This rare honey is produced by Apis mellifera siciliana, the endangered Sicilian black bee population native to Sicily. The hives are located in the Sicani Mountains, which extend north to the slopes of Mount Barraù, a Special Protection Area within the Natura 2000 network, where biodiversity thrives.
With low water content and high levels of polyphenols and antioxidants, this honey is prized for its potency, purity, and distinctly Sicilian flavor—arid, herbaceous, and complex. The bees forage a rich variety of wild Mediterranean flora, infusing each batch with the character of the land.
Protecting these bees means protecting biodiversity. Each jar supports the conservation of a vital species and the ancient ecosystem they call home.
